  • Automatically engraving according to the data: After receiving the correct data, the machine performs engraving according to the pre-programmed settings, helping reduce manual code entry and minimize the risk of engraving incorrect information. The engraving data is controlled for each individual product, meeting the management requirements of the production line.
  • Clear and consistent number engraving: The machine uses a dedicated number engraving head, which can be configured with either a laser engraving head or a router head, depending on the required engraving method and product material. Parameters such as character size, font, engraving position, and engraving settings can be configured according to technical requirements.
  • Controlling engraved codes: The software can check and manage engraving data, helping prevent duplicate codes, incorrect codes, or incorrect models from being engraved. Engraved codes and errors occurring during operation can be recorded for inspection and data traceability.
  • Supporting multiple models: The machine can be configured to accommodate different motorcycle models. When changing models, the operator can replace the jig/fixture and engraving head assembly, and update the corresponding data and engraving parameters for the new product.

Inspection technology used on the motorcycle frame number engraving machine

Method 2: PLC sends reference data to the camera for inspection

With this method, the PLC sends the character sequence to be inspected to the camera. The camera captures an image and uses OCR to read the actual characters engraved on the product. The camera directly compares the recognized data with the reference data provided by the PLC, then returns an OK/NG result to the PLC. This method allows the inspection system to verify data for each individual product and is particularly suitable for production lines with multiple models or where each product has a unique frame number.

  • Inspecting characters after engraving: The camera uses OCR to recognize the character sequence on the product surface and compare it with the required data, helping detect incorrect, missing, excessive, or incorrectly ordered characters.
  • Inspecting character dimensions: The camera system can check the size and shape of the engraved characters to ensure that they are within the configured dimensional range.
  • Inspecting the engraving area and position: The camera can inspect the engraving area and the relative position of the character sequence on the product, helping detect cases where the engraving is misaligned or positioned incorrectly.
  • Inspecting multiple engraving methods: The system can be configured to inspect characters engraved by laser on the engine surface or mechanically engraved using a router head on the motorcycle frame surface, depending on the configuration of each production line.
  • Detecting character sequences that differ from the reference data: When the OCR result does not match the reference data, the system identifies the product as NG and sends a signal to the PLC to trigger an alarm or perform the next processing step.
  • Checking for duplicate frame numbers: Engraved frame number data can be stored and compared with previously processed codes. If two products are found to have the same frame number, the system can trigger an alarm and prevent the product from proceeding to the next process.

Model changeover operating procedure

When switching to the production of a different motorcycle model, the operator should perform the changeover steps in the following sequence:

Step 1: Switch the machine to Manual mode
Set the machine to Manual mode to ensure that equipment changeover operations can be performed safely and conveniently.

Step 2: Replace the engraving head assembly
Remove and replace the engraving head assembly with the appropriate one for the model to be produced. Check the installation position and ensure that the engraving head assembly is securely fixed before operation.

Step 3: Replace the jig
Replace the jig/fixture according to the corresponding product model. The jig is used to position and secure the product during the engraving process, so it is important to ensure that the product is correctly positioned and firmly held.

Step 4: Perform a test run in Manual mode
After replacing the engraving head and jig, perform a test run in Manual mode to check the fixture position, engraving position, mechanism travel, and operation of the engraving head.

After confirming that all positions and parameters meet the requirements, switch the machine to Automatic mode to begin production.
