What is a motorbike side shaft pressing machine?

A motorcycle connecting rod press machine (crankshaft press machine) is a machine used to separate and assemble motorcycle crankshaft assemblies using a linear sliding table driven by a control system and hydraulic cylinders.

The motorcycle connecting rod press machine, also known as a motorcycle crankshaft press machine, is specialized equipment used for disassembling, assembling, and aligning the connecting rod (crankshaft) assembly of motorcycle engines. The crankshaft assembly plays an important role in transmitting motion between the piston and the drivetrain, so a high level of precision is required during assembly. The machine operates based on a hydraulic system that generates large and stable pressing force to separate or press the components of the crankshaft assembly. The workpiece is positioned and secured on a fixture, after which the sliding table moves linearly under the action of the hydraulic cylinder to apply pressing force to the required position. The operator can control the pressing process through the machine's control system, allowing the pressing force and stroke to be adjusted according to the specific type of crankshaft being processed.

During assembly, the machine presses the components into their correct positions, helping ensure the concentricity and accuracy of the crankshaft assembly. During disassembly, the hydraulic pressing force allows components to be separated quickly while minimizing unnecessary impact on the workpiece. With its high pressing force, stable movement, and controllable pressing process, the motorcycle connecting rod press machine helps reduce manual labor, increase productivity, and ensure consistency throughout the motorcycle crankshaft assembly process.

Thanks to its ability to disassemble and assemble various types of crankshafts, its versatile fixture system, and its additional capability to correct motorcycle triple clamps, the 5S-2 motorcycle connecting rod press machine is a suitable solution for motorcycle repair and maintenance facilities, as well as manufacturers and assembly companies specializing in motorcycle components.

How to use the motorcycle connecting rod press machine

To ensure that the motorcycle connecting rod press machine operates smoothly while maintaining accuracy and safety during crankshaft disassembly and assembly, the operator should follow the correct operating sequence and procedures. The operating process includes steps such as starting the machine, adjusting the hydraulic pressure, removing the crankshaft bearing and gear, removing the crankshaft pin, and completing the crankshaft assembly.

Following each step correctly not only improves working efficiency but also helps minimize the risk of damage to components and equipment.

Starting the Machine

Before operation, check the power supply, hydraulic system, and working area to ensure that the machine is in a safe operating condition.

  • Turn the switch on the electrical control panel. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  • Turn the hydraulic motor switch on or off as required.
  • Press and hold the up arrow button to move the sliding table upward.
  • Press and hold the down arrow button to move the sliding table downward.

Adjusting the hydraulic pressure

- Pressure adjustment: Use the pressure regulating valve to set the pressing force according to the specific crankshaft assembly and operation being performed.

  • Turn the valve clockwise to increase the system pressure.
  • Turn the valve counterclockwise to decrease the system pressure.

- Sliding table speed adjustment: The sliding table movement speed is adjusted using the throttle valve installed on the oil supply line to the hydraulic cylinder at the rear of the machine.

  • Adjust the throttle valve to increase or decrease the sliding table speed.
  • The speed should be adjusted according to each operation, especially when the sliding table approaches the pressing position, to ensure accurate and controlled operation.

Removing the bearing and crankshaft gear from the motorcycle crankshaft assembly

  • Use your left hand to hold one side of the crankshaft cheek from which the bearing and crankshaft gear are to be removed. Press the other crankshaft cheek firmly against the lower bearing puller fixture.
  • Use your right hand to press and hold the sliding table control button to move the table downward. The bearing puller fixture then presses against the inner surface of the bearing, causing the bearing and crankshaft gear to separate from the crankshaft cheek.
  • Press the sliding table upward and repeat the same procedure for the other side of the crankshaft assembly.

Removing the crankshaft pin from the crankshaft assembly

  • Place the crankshaft assembly on the sliding table. Press the button on the laser centering device to activate the laser, then move the crankshaft assembly until the center point of the crankshaft pin aligns with the laser beam.

  • Use a 24 mm wrench to tighten and securely clamp the crankshaft assembly onto the sliding table.

  • Press and hold the sliding table control button to move the table downward. Continue until the crankshaft pin removal shaft pushes the crankshaft pin out of the crankshaft assembly, then stop the machine.

  • Repeat the same procedure to remove the crankshaft pin from the crankshaft cheek on the opposite side.

Reassembling the crankshaft assembly

  • Use your left hand to hold one side of the crankshaft cheek where the bearing and crankshaft gear are to be installed.
  • Bring the other crankshaft cheek into close contact with the lower bearing puller fixture, ensuring that the components are correctly positioned.
  • Use your right hand to press and hold the control button to move the sliding table downward.
  • As the sliding table moves downward, the bearing puller fixture applies force to the inner surface of the bearing, creating pressing force to separate the bearing and crankshaft gear from the crankshaft cheek.
  • After completing the operation, press the control button to move the sliding table upward.
  • Repeat the same procedure for the other crankshaft cheek to complete the bearing and crankshaft gear removal process.

Operating precautions for the motorcycle side shaft pressing machine

To ensure stable operation and maintain accuracy during disassembly and assembly, the 5S-2 motorcycle connecting rod press machine should be regularly inspected and maintained:

  • Regularly check the hydraulic oil level and refill it when necessary.
  • Check the operating condition of the hydraulic system, hydraulic cylinder, and oil lines.
  • Periodically lubricate the linear shafts and moving parts of the machine.
  • Thoroughly clean the sliding table, machine table, fixture hub, and working area after use.
  • Check the fixtures before operation to ensure that the crankshaft assembly is properly positioned and securely clamped.
  • Adjust the pressing force and sliding table speed according to each type of crankshaft. Avoid applying excessive pressing force, which may damage the components.
  • During operation, do not place your hands or any part of your body in the area between the sliding table, pressing head, and crankshaft assembly while the machine is running.

The 5S-2 motorcycle connecting rod press machine is an effective solution for disassembling, assembling, and aligning crankshaft assemblies in motorcycle repair, maintenance, and component manufacturing. With its rigid structure, powerful hydraulic system, and stable sliding table stroke, the machine effectively meets requirements for pressing force and accuracy during operation. The wide range of fixtures in different sizes and configurations allows the machine to handle various types of crankshaft assemblies, including those used in modern scooters. The adjustable pressing pressure and sliding table speed also give operators greater control over each disassembly and assembly operation. To ensure long-term and reliable machine performance, the hydraulic oil, hydraulic cylinder, oil lines, moving components, and fixtures should be inspected regularly and cleaned after use. During operation, users should select the appropriate fixture, securely position and clamp the workpiece, and strictly follow safety requirements in the pressing area. If you are looking for a motorcycle crankshaft press machine suitable for specific products and production requirements, CNC VINA can provide consultation on suitable solutions and equipment configurations based on your actual requirements.
