Introduction to the Manual Mask Earloop Welding Machine

The Vietnam-made manual mask earloop welding machine is designed to attach earloops to both sides of medical mask bodies using ultrasonic welding technology. The machine combines manual loading and unloading by the operator with automated earloop feeding, positioning, cutting, and welding processes, reducing manual operations while maintaining consistent production quality. With a compact design, a production capacity of approximately 15–20 masks per minute, and a cost-effective investment level, the machine is well suited for small- and medium-sized mask manufacturers as well as businesses looking to add an earloop welding process to an existing production line. The mask earloop welding machine is also referred to as a manual or semi-automatic mask earloop welding machine, as the operator is still responsible for loading the mask blanks and removing the finished products, while the machine automatically performs earloop feeding, positioning, and welding. The equipment can be integrated with a semi-automatic mask body welding machine to form a complete mask production line with a level of automation tailored to the customer's actual production requirements and output.

With its compact structure, user-friendly control interface, and 220 VAC power supply, the machine can be conveniently installed in a wide range of workshop environments. CNC-VINA designs and manufactures the machine in Vietnam and provides warranty services and technical support throughout the equipment's operation.

Manual Mask Earloop Welding Machine

Operating principle of the manual mask earloop welding machine

The manual mask earloop welding machine uses an ultrasonic welding head to attach earloops to the mask body. Instead of requiring workers to manually perform each welding point, the machine automatically carries out the earloop feeding, positioning, welding, and workpiece rotation processes after the operator places the mask blank into the fixture. The operating process consists of the following steps:

Placing the mask body into the fixture

The operator places the mask body onto the machine's fixture plate in the specified orientation, with the inner side of the mask facing upward. Once the mask blank is correctly positioned, the operator presses the foot switch to start the operating cycle.

Feeding and positioning the earloops

The earloop feeding mechanism delivers the earloop material to the welding position. Both ends of the earloop are positioned at the designated attachment points on the mask body, helping minimize positional deviations during the welding process.

Ultrasonic earloop welding

Once the earloop is correctly positioned, the ultrasonic welding head moves downward to perform the welding operation. Ultrasonic energy creates a bond between the earloop and the mask body without the need for adhesive or additional bonding materials. After the welding cycle is completed, the welding head returns to its initial position in preparation for the next operation.

Rotating the workpiece and welding the opposite side

The fixture rotates the mask body 180 degrees to bring the opposite side into the welding position. At the same time, the earloop feeding and cutting mechanism prepares the remaining section of the earloop. The machine then continues the positioning and welding process on the opposite side. Thanks to the workpiece rotation mechanism, both sides of the earloop can be welded within the same clamping cycle.

Removing the finished mask and continuing the cycle

After both sides of the earloop have been welded, the operator removes the finished mask from the fixture and places a new mask blank into position. The next cycle is then initiated using the foot switch. This operating method reduces the amount of manual work required while maintaining a simple machine configuration, making the equipment suitable for manufacturers that do not yet require a fully automated earloop welding system.

Features of the Manual Mask Earloop Welding Machine

The machine is designed for the earloop attachment process of medical masks, focusing on stable operation, simple handling, and easy integration with other equipment in the production line. Key features include:

  • Supports earloop welding for 3-ply and 4-ply medical masks.

  • Automatically welds earloops on both sides of the mask.

  • Uses a servo motor to control the earloop feeding speed.

  • Features a Vietnamese and English control interface.

  • Uses an ultrasonic welding head for earloop attachment.

  • Compact design for convenient installation and layout in the workshop.

  • Can be integrated with a mask body welding machine and other equipment in the mask production line.

The combination of operator-assisted handling and automated mechanisms enables the machine to meet medium-scale production requirements without requiring the high investment associated with a fully automated production line.

Advantages of the mask earloop welding machine designed and manufactured by CNC-VINA

Compact design for easy installation

The machine has dimensions of L1010 × W704 × H1500 mm, making it suitable for workshops with limited floor space. The machine structure is equipped with adjustable leveling feet and caster wheels, allowing for easier equipment positioning and movement within the production area. Power and compressed air connection points are integrated into the machine, making it more convenient to connect the equipment to the workshop's electrical and pneumatic systems.

Robust mechanical structure and high precision

The machine frame is manufactured from aluminum alloy and sheet steel, combined with powder coating and chrome plating processes to improve durability and surface protection. Areas that come into direct contact with the products can be made of stainless steel or other suitable materials to meet the requirements of mask production. Mechanical components are machined by CNC-VINA using various processes, including milling, turning, bending, wire cutting, and waterjet cutting. In-house mechanical machining helps CNC-VINA maintain control over component accuracy and ensure better consistency during machine assembly.

Ultrasonic earloop welding technology

The machine uses a single ultrasonic welding head to attach the earloops to the mask body. Ultrasonic welding enables fast and reliable bonding and is well suited to the materials commonly used in medical masks. Depending on the machine configuration and customer requirements, the ultrasonic welding power source can be supplied from South Korea, Malaysia, the United States, China, or equivalent suppliers.

Simple operation with Vietnamese control interface

The machine is programmed with a Vietnamese and English control interface, allowing operators to easily monitor machine status and perform the necessary operations during production. The use of a foot switch to activate the operating cycle also gives operators greater control when loading mask blanks, removing finished products, and managing the production pace.

Components from well-known brands

Depending on the configuration, the machine can use electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical components from established brands such as Mitsubishi, SMC, Omron, Delta, Hiwin, and Panasonic, as well as equivalent suppliers. Selecting components according to the requirements of each machine configuration helps ensure reliable operation while making maintenance and component replacement more convenient.

Who is the manual mask earloop welding machine suitable for?

The manual mask earloop welding machine is suitable for manufacturers that need to automate the earloop attachment process but do not yet require a fully automated production line. With a production capacity of approximately 15–20 pieces per minute, the equipment can meet the requirements of small- and medium-scale production while making use of existing labor for mask loading and unloading operations. For businesses providing contract earloop welding services, the machine can be used as a dedicated piece of equipment for this process. Its relatively compact configuration also makes it easier to install within an existing production area. If a manufacturer already has an automatic mask body welding machine, the semi-automatic earloop welding machine can be used for the subsequent earloop attachment stage to complete the finished product. As production demand increases, the manufacturer can consider upgrading to or adding an automatic mask earloop welding machine.

Integrating the earloop welding machine into a mask production line

The manual earloop welding machine can be used independently for the earloop attachment process or integrated with other equipment in a medical mask production line. In a basic production line, the automatic mask body welding machine forms the mask blanks, which are then transferred to the earloop welding stage. With an automatic mask body welding machine offering a production capacity of approximately 100–120 pieces per minute, manufacturers can install multiple earloop welding machines or select an automatic earloop welding machine depending on the required production output. The equipment configuration should be selected based on the actual capacity of each production stage to avoid situations where one machine has a higher output while the following process cannot handle the required production volume.
